Tuesday Verses ~ Secure the Favor of God

“For if any man seeme to himselfe, that he is somewhat [something], when he is nothing [is lifted up with vain self-conceit], hee deceiueth [deceives] himselfe in his imagination. But let euery man prooue [prove] his owne worke: and then shal he haue reioycing in himselfe onely and not in another. For euery man shall beare his owne burden“ [ from the 1800s commentator Albert Barnes: This will show him that the great business of life is to secure the favor of God, and to be prepared to give up his account; and there is no way so effectual of checking ambition, and subduing vanity and the love of applause, as to feel that we are soon to stand at the awesome bar of God].” (Galatians 6:3-5 1587 Geneva Version).

Father, You are great, so perfect, that we stand before You in awe of You. Help us as we walk through each day to be more like Your Son. Through Christ’s holy name we ask. Thank You~
