“Sincerely Claire” is Born
It has been a very long month since I posted here. The last stages of edits, formatting the book, testing the book cover is the correct dimensions is always hard. And it nevers goes off without a few hitches, so the reason I have not posted.
Finally though, the paperback version of “Sincerely Claire” released on October 22nd.
Back Cover Copy of “Sincerely Claire”:
After living in California for almost a year, Claire returns to Oregon with high hopes that seventh grade will be better than sixth. Barely off the school bus, though, trouble smacks her in the head. Literally. Her California bullies! Here?
The Lavender Girls’ dads were hired to supervise a local tunnel project, and the families came along. Claire knows to watch her back. But she fears for her hometown friend Lizbeth, who has yet to discover how far the Lavender Girls can take their harassment.
Fudging a little on what her parents would approve of, Claire creates her own club to battle the bullies’ evil ploys. What will she do when she must make a choice: an eye for an eye – or turn the other cheek?
The edits for this book were extensive as I strived to write a polished story. And I must confess, I had not kept up with the changes in what is allowed these days in the way we writers tell a story. For example, the use of fewer commas, no colons in fiction writing, the comma after a word like But to start a sentence and create a pause, it is now preferred to use ellipsis such as this, But . . .
So this editorial process boggled my mind, but I delved in and learned.
Now, I pledge to keep up! And my wonderful editors will help me in that task.
Until next week, keep reading to learn and to grow!
