Road Trip of Delusion
Road Trip of Delusion
Fifteen-year-old Kari Rose discovers how much trouble she and her two sisters can get into when they stay at their ancient granny’s for spring break. Granny gets a wild-haired notion at three in the morning, and she’s leaving with or without them. Kari makes the decision to take her sisters and ride with Granny in her old Cadillac on a five-hundred-mile-long trip north to visit family. Miles down the road, this harmless act finds Granny no longer able to drive, and Kari must take the wheel. Soon after, the four travelers are caught in a freeway-closing-down snowstorm which brings everyone and everything to a standstill.
A second blizzard with catastrophic impact is about to descend upon them, and Kari must determine the best way to find shelter and beat the storm. Will Kari trust her gut instincts and rely upon a complete stranger to lead them to safety?

Every time I think about this book I get a big lump in my throat. The story made me think of my grandmother and how much I miss her. She was a small woman much like granny in the story. She couldn’t see over the steering wheel and had pillows she sat on. I loved how the author took us a journey with emotions and faith as stories were shared and memories were made.

Kari, Leah and Mia are packed off to spend a week at dull old great-Granny’s house so their parents can enjoy a wonderful vacation. It doesn’t seem fair by comparison, but Kari is determined she’s going to get some cooking lessons in while she can. What she learns is so much better, about love, family and the spices that really make a life. Go along with resourceful Kari, impulsive Leah, and adventuresome Mia as they embark on the road trip of their lives. You won’t regret it. I was given an early ARC of this book to read.

This story is unique and a fun adventure to read, which also contains lessons to heed. What should widowed Granny’s great-granddaughters do when the elderly lady insists on driving with them in her old Cadillac from California to Oregon to visit her son? She is supposed to be watching them while their parents are gone, so they feel they have no choice. The weather turns horrible, and they must be resourceful to survive. It’s quite the adventure, and would make a good read-aloud for a family to discuss. All opinions are my own.

This road trip novel is a story both tender and terrifying about one inexperienced teen driver who must take her family on a journey not of her own choosing. Characters who are two generations apart ratchet up the conflict and tension. I read an early ARC of this novel in ebook form.

This is a very interesting book. It is not at all your typical romance or mystery. A little of both but really, neither one. It is just a fun, clean, and God honoring novel. The main characters are well developed, the sub-characters are easy to understand also. The plot flows well and keeps your interest.
