Blessing:
You may be wondering about the strange title. I wanted to share with you what one of my nieces and I do each and every day.
We text each other with a good morning and then this. Blessing: fill in the blank here with whatever is a blessing to you that day.
As this difficult year escalated to more and more difficult, I figured she and I needed to count our blessings each day. Something I learned the hard way when my son, Joshua, passed away sixteen years ago.
From reading Scriptures, after Joshua’s death, I searched for words of encouragement. When I found Philippians 4:8, I memorized it. “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praises, think about these things” (English Standard Version).
I’m serious when I say I had to have this verse to keep on going.
Well, in today’s times, it doesn’t feel as serious like losing a child, but it does bring out the unrighteous fear nature in me. For this kind of fear does not please God, and there is no peace in our hearts.
So, I challenge you to find a texting buddy or a calling buddy, and share your blessings to each other daily.
Blessing: I’m grateful Jesus came down as a baby and died as a man to take away our sins.
Until next Saturday, I hope you are blessed!
